

AJ Summers is a Regulatory and Quality Assurance Specialist at Proxima Clinical LLC, serving clients' market approval and quality management needs for the emerging drug and medical device industries. AJ brings a foundation in translational science, medical device development, and regulatory strategy. He recently completed his Ph.D. while serving as a technical and scientific lead for a multi-million-dollar contract with the Department of Defense aimed at early detection of select agents to combat bioterrorism. In this role, he successfully developed, optimized, and scaled high sensitivity, multiplex in-vitro diagnostic systems to fulfill federal deliverables. Additionally, AJ played a key scientific role in adapting this technology for use in microgravity during the SpaceX Inspiration4 mission. Prior to his graduate studies, AJ served as a technology analyst at a private equity firm, where he gained foundational exposure to regulatory pathways, market intelligence, and human factors testing for emerging biomedical technologies. Moreover, his research career first began with implantable microsensor fabrication in computational neuroscience, and he brings an extensive background in executing animal studies. AJ graduated with his Ph.D. in Clinical Translational Sciences from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine in Phoenix, and his B.S. degrees in Neuroscience and Molecular Biology from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
